Voice Recording of Flight Arrival, Now Posted
The audio version of my poem, Flight Arrival, read by yours truly, is now live on the Olentangy Review Virtual Reading Room page, which you can find clicking here.
While you enjoy the last day of 2016 or contemplate the arrival of 2017, take a hop over to the Reading Room and listen to me or some of the other authors from the Winter 2016 issue read their work. You can also download the Winter 2016 issue as a pdf.
Personally, I like to hear a poet read her own work. Once I’ve heard someone read, I can easily recall the voice & cadence. Her or his idiosyncratic speech patterns–so difficult to define, yet so specific and recognizable–will echo behind the lines of any future work I read.
Few people have the chance to see a poet read or perform live. Therefore audio or video recordings are the next best thing. For performance poets, video is probably especially relevant, perhaps more so than audio and print combined.
Let me know what you think. Do you like hearing poems rather than reading them? Or would you prefer to not have the poet’s voice in your head as you contemplate the page?
Other Voice Recordings Available
If you’d like to hear me read several poems from my book, Stars Crawl Out From Their Caves, you can go to this page. The book itself is currently available on Amazon in paper and ebook.
I hope you have a Happy New Year!
